PT Mahkota Petriedo Indoperkasa, holders shoe brand ‘Kickers’ stated an apology followed step withdrawal of all products after consumers reported by attaching the label halal products made from raw material pig skin.
Lawyers for the Crown Petriedo PT Indoperkasa, Ikhsan Abdullah admitted the mistake and the product has been withdrawn since 1 November 2012.
“The labeling of halal done because lack of PT Crown Patriedo Indoperkasa. PT Mahkota label their products as previously had asked for recommendations Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and based on the Consumer Protection Act,” said Ikhsan Abdullah through a statement on Tuesday (25/12).
According to him, the move was a form mandated in Law No. 8/1999 on Consumer Protection. “We have also given a letter of recommendation to the MUI.”
“We are conscious only halal labels food and beverage products. We apologize for this misunderstanding,” said Ikhsan.
Ikhsan explains, halal Inclusion label is a form of responsibility PT Mahkota Patriedo to consumers. “Terms diclosure ‘Pig Lining’ in the products we put as part of the education and protection to consumers,” he said.
Earlier, a consumer named Winarno reported branded shoes ‘Kickers’ to the Jakarta Police. Shoes were labeled halal. In fact, the shoes are made from pig skin. Winarno shoe shopped in a shopping center in the Senayan, South Jakarta.
Winarno find a halal sticker reads ‘pig skin lining’ in the shoe brand. Because there is halal label on the shoes, then Winarno dared to buy it.
